It Starts with Clarity

I've had the good fortune of meeting some amazing people in my work recently. And what has really been crystalized in my fact-finding mission to understand successes, challenges and opportunities around a program, is just HOW CRITICAL it is to understand the vast array of #experiences and #perceptions of your key stakeholders BEFORE attempting to define the problem, let alone solve it.

You may THINK YOU KNOW what the issue is and how to fix without empathy-based research, but you are PROBABLY WRONG--I know I was!

My favourite expression these days is "the road to hell is paved with good intentions" because frankly, I've seen it happen too many times to count.

Start with understanding, ALWAYS. Get curious, get uncomfortable and get busy talking to people to develop a 360 degree view of what's happening. Design Thinking starts with EMPATHY for good reason: so you don't end up on a roadtrip to hell and back! :)
